Amidst India’s battle against an intensifying heatwave, state governments have swiftly implemented early summer vacations for schools. In Uttar Pradesh, schools will have an extended 41-day break from May 21 to June 30, 2024, providing much-needed respite for students from the sweltering heat.
To ensure a smooth transition, the summer vacation dates for primary and upper primary schools have been slightly adjusted. These schools will close from May 20 to June 15. However, due to May 19 being a Sunday, vacations will commence a day earlier than usual.
To prevent academic disruption during the break, all principals have been instructed to assign homework to keep students engaged. For further information, students and parents are advised to contact their respective schools.
The decision to extend summer vacations underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding student well-being and providing a conducive learning environment. As temperatures continue to rise, these measures aim to protect students from potential heat-related illnesses and ensure their comfort and safety.
