While the Spring/Summer 2025 Paris Fashion Week might have lacked some of the usual viral A-list moments, a few notable names stood out. While the Beckhams were absent, and Kylie Jenner opted out of Balmain’s show, Mrs. Prada delivered with an unexpected casting lineup for Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
Alexa Chung, Little Simz, Hilary Swank, and Willem Dafoe all graced the runway, adding a touch of unexpected Hollywood glamor to the show. This echoes Prada’s history of casting actors in their runway shows, notably the autumn/winter 2012 Menswear collection dubbed ‘The Villains Runway,’ which featured a roster of Hollywood bad guys.
But the real highlight of the show was the runway debut of Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, Nicole Kidman’s 16-year-old daughter. Opening the show in a beautifully angelic look, Sunday Rose marked her entrance into the fashion world. Her appearance comes just months after her first red-carpet debut with her mother, where Nicole accepted her AFI Life Achievement Award.
This casting choice is a testament to Miu Miu’s signature curveball approach. Past seasons have seen the brand cast Kristin Scott Thomas, The Crown’s Luther Ford, and Dr. Qin Huilan, a retired septuagenarian doctor with a penchant for Prada coats. Rosemary Ferguson also made a remarkable comeback to the runway at Mrs. Prada’s request.
Miu Miu’s history with casting celebrity offspring is well-established. Previous seasons have showcased Esther McGregor, Zaya Wade, and Ella Emhoff. The brand was also the first to feature Lila Moss in a runway show, days after her 18th birthday, with the daughter of Kate Moss and Dazed cofounder Jefferson Hack opening and closing the Spring/Summer 2021 presentation.
With the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2025 collections, it’s clear that Miu Miu is not afraid to embrace the unexpected. It’s safe to say that Sunday Rose Kidman Urban’s runway debut is just the beginning of her exciting journey in the world of fashion, and we can expect to see more of her on the catwalks in the future.
