The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have continued their impressive form in the Indian Premier League (IPL), setting a new record for the most sixes hit in a single season. With 100 sixes to their name thus far, SRH surpassed the previous record of 97 sixes, which was also set by the team in the 2022 season.
The Hyderabad-based franchise achieved the landmark during their match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Despite a loss to RCB, SRH’s batting prowess was on full display. The team’s openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, along with middle-order mainstay Heinrich Klaasen, have been instrumental in SRH’s success this season.
In the match against RCB, Abhishek Sharma was the standout performer with 31 runs, while skipper Pat Cummins and Shahbaz Ahmed chipped in with valuable contributions. However, it was RCB who emerged victorious, posting a total of 206/7 in their 20 overs and restricting SRH to 171 in reply.
Despite the setback, SRH remains in a strong position in the IPL standings. With five wins and three losses, the team sits in third place, behind the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. SRH will look to build on their impressive run when they face the Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match on April 29.
