Super Kings Academy Expands to Vellore, Basketball Without Borders Asia 2024 Set for Perth, and Vansh Nandal Triumphs in AITA Tennis Tournament

The Super Kings Academy, known for its cricketing prowess, is set to open its 13th center in Tamil Nadu, marking its presence in Vellore in partnership with Sunbeam CBSE School. This expansion takes the academy’s total number of centers to 17, including three international locations in the UK, USA, and Australia. The new center in Vellore is set to be a state-of-the-art facility, boasting three turf wickets, three astroturf wickets, two matting wickets, a mini ground, and floodlights. On the basketball front, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) have joined forces with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring together 60 top high-school-age prospects from over 15 countries across the Asia-Pacific region for the 14th edition of Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia. The event, scheduled for September 19-22 at Warwick Stadium in Perth, Australia, will see these young athletes coached by renowned figures in the basketball world. NBA champion Aron Baynes (Australia) and four-time WNBA champion Cynthia Cooper will lead the coaching team, joined by NBA assistant coaches Bobby Jackson, Jay Larranaga, and Terry Porter, as well as FIBA Players’ Commission member and former Australian national team member Jenni Screen. President of the World Association of Basketball Coaches, Patrick Hunt, will act as camp director, with Kristen Crenshaw serving as the athletic trainer. The camp will feature various activities, including movement drills, skill stations, competitions, and life-skills development sessions.

Moving on to tennis, Vansh Nandal emerged victorious in the quarterfinals of the Rs.100,000 AITA men’s tennis tournament held at the Faridabad Academy. Nandal displayed grit and determination to overcome Bhavya Singhmar in a hard-fought match that ended 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. In other quarterfinal matches, Ajay Malik defeated Yuvraj Soni 6-0, 6-4, Arnav Yadav triumphed over Vilasier Khate 7-6(1), 7-6(6), and Sunil Malik emerged victorious against Krishan Hooda 7-5, 7-5.

These events showcase the continued growth and excitement within the sporting world, highlighting opportunities for young athletes across various disciplines and inspiring the next generation of talent.
