The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA), demanding a response regarding the numerous pleas filed in connection with alleged paper leaks and malpractices during the NEET-UG 2024 exam. This action comes after concerns were raised about the fairness and integrity of the exam, which serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate-level medical courses in India.
The court emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, stating that even the slightest negligence should not be overlooked. “If there is 0.001% negligence on the part of anyone it should be thoroughly dealt with,” the Supreme Court declared.
The NEET-UG exam was conducted on May 5th at 4,750 centers across 571 cities in India. The results were declared on June 4th, prompting widespread controversy. Parents and teachers began expressing concerns about the grace marks awarded to 1,563 students, further fueling suspicions of irregularities. The Supreme Court’s intervention signifies the seriousness of the allegations and its commitment to ensuring fairness in the examination process.
