Suspended JD(S) Leader Prajwal Revanna Expected to Return to India on May 30

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of JDS supremo and suspended JD(S) leader, is expected to return to Bengaluru from Munich on May 30, according to sources. The 33-year-old is facing sexual abuse charges and is the current NDA candidate seeking re-election from the Hassan Lok Sabha segment. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is maintaining vigil at the Kempegowda airport to arrest him as soon as he lands.

Following the Karnataka State Commission for Women’s request to initiate an investigation into explicit videos allegedly depicting sexual assault by Prajwal, he fled to a foreign country. As of now, two cases of sexual assault have been filed against him.

Despite releasing a video statement pledging to present himself before the SIT on May 31 and assist with the investigation, Prajwal has twice canceled his flight ticket from Germany. The SIT conducted searches at his residence in Hassan on Tuesday, seizing incriminating materials.

Prajwal departed the country on April 27, a day after polling for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He has avoided appearing for hearings despite repeated summonses. The suspended JDS MP has issued an apology to his family, party supporters, and the citizens of the state, alleging that the matter was part of a conspiracy by Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.
