Swaraj Tractors Celebrates Golden Anniversary with Limited Edition Models and New CSR Initiative

Leading tractor manufacturer Swaraj Tractors marked its 50th anniversary with the launch of limited edition variants for its XM, XT, and FE series of tractors. The Mahindra Group firm also announced its new Skilling 5000 CSR program, which aims to train women and the specially-abled in agricultural and other trades. The company’s journey began with the first tractor rolling out of the Swaraj plant in Mohali, Punjab, on April 14, 1974. In 2007, Mahindra acquired Swaraj’s parent, Punjab Tractors Ltd, and established the Swaraj Division. The company crossed a significant milestone in 2022, achieving sales of over 20,00,000 units. The limited edition variants are available for five Swaraj models: 843 XM, 742 XT, 744 FE, 744 XT, and 855 FE. These models, launched in September 2023, fall within the 40hp-50hp category, which accounts for nearly 58% of the Indian tractor industry by volume. The special variants, available for only two months across the country, feature golden decals and the signature of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is also Swaraj’s brand ambassador. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sectors), Mahindra, highlighted the company’s mission of self-reliance, stating that Swaraj has played a crucial role in making India ‘atmanirbhar’ in meeting its food needs. The Skilling 5000 initiative will empower women and the specially-abled by providing vocational skills in agriculture and other trades. The golden jubilee celebrations also included the culmination of ‘Josh Ka Swaran Utsav,’ a nationwide campaign that engaged with over 50,000 customers across the country. Swaraj also unveiled a coffee table book that chronicles the company’s 50-year journey.
