Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is bringing a taste of Switzerland to its long-haul flights with new menus inspired by the flavors of Canton Aargau. For the next three months, passengers traveling in First and Business Class will be treated to gourmet creations by acclaimed chef Manuel Steigmeier.
Chef Steigmeier, known for his modern cuisine and minimalist presentation at his Michelin-starred FAHR restaurant in Künten, Aargau, has crafted dishes that highlight the fresh, local produce of the region. Passengers can enjoy delicacies like tender braised veal cheeks with cremolata, cherry jus, and creamy mascarpone polenta, or savor a dish of sautéed cod dressed with chimichurri, creamy fregola sarda, and roasted autumn vegetables.
The menus also offer a selection of traditional Aargau dishes for passengers in Premium Economy Class. These include the renowned ‘Rüeblikuchen’ carrot cake and a variety of Aargau cheeses, all part of SWISS’s ‘Taste of Switzerland’ in-flight culinary program.
“The concoctions of Manuel Steigmeier blend classic elements with a fresh creative touch – a combination that fits excellently with SWISS,” says SWISS Head of Brand Experience Julia Hillenbrand. “And I’m delighted that we can now take our inflight guests, too, on this exciting culinary journey.”
Chef Steigmeier is equally enthusiastic about the opportunity to share his culinary creations with the world. “It’s a genuine honour for our FAHR culinary team to represent Canton Aargau aloft,” he says. “Our restaurant guests often see SWISS aircraft flying over from our garden terrace. And knowing that our meal creations will now be served so high above the clouds makes us all truly proud.”
The partnership between SWISS and Chef Steigmeier is a testament to the airline’s commitment to offering exceptional dining experiences to its passengers. With its ‘Taste of Switzerland’ program, SWISS continues to showcase the diverse culinary landscapes of Switzerland, providing passengers with a memorable taste of the country’s rich gastronomic heritage.
