SWISS has made the decision to suspend its flights between Zurich and Tel Aviv, operating as LX252 and LX253, until Thursday, August 8th. This move comes in response to the recent developments and heightened tensions in the Middle East. Additionally, flights to and from Beirut will remain suspended until Monday, August 12th.
The airline is prioritizing the safety of its passengers and crew. They are in close communication with their staff in Tel Aviv, providing them with the option to leave the country if they choose. Affected passengers will be contacted directly and offered complimentary rebooking or full refunds.
SWISS is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East, with dedicated specialists evaluating information and maintaining communication with relevant authorities in Switzerland and on-site.
Despite the suspension, SWISS continues to experience strong performance. In the first half of 2024, the airline transported approximately 8.5 million passengers, marking a 12.3% increase compared to the previous year. This increase reflects a robust 13% rise in flight operations, with over 69,000 flights completed during the period.
Looking ahead, SWISS anticipates a nearly 10% year-on-year increase in available seat-kilometre production for the full year of 2024. This will bring capacity close to 95% of its pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Furthermore, the airline projects that production for the upcoming summer season will almost mirror the figures achieved in 2019.
