Sydney Cellar Door Returns: A Celebration of New South Wales Wine

Get ready to raise a glass! This November, Sydney Cellar Door is making a triumphant return, bringing a celebration of New South Wales’ finest wines back to the heart of the city. The two-day event, organized by the NSW Wine Industry Association, marks the culmination of the inaugural NSW Wine Month – a month-long festival dedicated to showcasing the best winemakers across the state.

Taking place on November 9th and 10th at Tallawoladah Lawn, outside the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in The Rocks, Sydney Cellar Door will gather over 40 wineries representing 16 distinct wine regions of New South Wales. This is a rare opportunity to taste a diverse range of wines, from established names to exciting newcomers, all in one vibrant location.

This year’s event holds special significance as it marks the first Sydney Cellar Door in nearly a decade. Attendees will have the chance to discover the vast diversity of NSW wines, from the familiar to the unexpected, all within a single weekend.

Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or simply looking to explore new flavors, Sydney Cellar Door offers an immersive experience. Meet the passionate producers behind your favorite wines, learn about the unique terroirs that shape their creations, and enjoy the festive atmosphere with food trucks and live entertainment.

Some of the participating wineries include Philip Shaw and Ross Hill from the cool-climate vineyards of Orange, family-run wineries like Margan and Tyrrell’s representing the iconic Hunter Valley, and Mudgee’s Lowe Family Wines and Robert Stein showcasing the region’s finest varietals.

The event is free to attend, making it accessible to everyone. Guests can purchase branded tasting glasses and tokens to sample a wide variety of wines from the participating producers.

Mark Bourne, President of NSW Wine, highlights the event’s significance: “The relaunch of Sydney Cellar Door in 2024 marks the revival of an important landmark event in Sydney’s wine culture, and one that we look forward to growing.” He adds, “After 235 years since the first grapes were planted in Australia at Circular Quay, winemakers from across NSW are returning to showcase the diversity and quality of wines — so join us across two days to celebrate the rich wine history of NSW.”

Anita Mitchell, Chief Executive of Placemaking NSW, emphasizes the event’s connection to The Rocks: “We are thrilled to bring the NSW Wine Sydney Cellar Door to life in The Rocks, a place where the very first vines arrived in Australia. Building on our relationship with the NSW Wine Industry Association and the successful bi-monthly pop-up cellar door at The Rocks Markets, this event will further showcase the best wines our region has to offer. November will be the time to enjoy more NSW wine experiences throughout The Rocks.”

Don’t miss this chance to experience the best of New South Wales wine in one vibrant, exciting location. Grab your glass and get ready for a wine journey like no other!
