Sydney Raids Uncover Links to Wakeley Church Stabbing

Counter-terrorism police have conducted searches at multiple Sydney addresses on Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of a religious leader in a Wakeley church last week. The raids are part of an ongoing investigation, and there is no current threat to public safety. AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw confirmed that the raids are related to the alleged church attack, in which a 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel during a livestreamed service. The incident was quickly labeled a terrorist attack by NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb, and the teenager was charged with a Commonwealth terrorism offense. A riot erupted after police arrived at the scene, resulting in injuries to multiple officers. Police have since arrested and charged four alleged rioters, with the potential for up to 50 individuals to face charges.
