Gurucharan Singh, renowned for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the beloved TV serial ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ has been reported missing since April 22, leaving fans and the entertainment industry deeply concerned. Amidst the ongoing search efforts, rumors have emerged on social media suggesting that Singh may have been struggling with depression. However, Samay Shah, who played his on-screen son, has vehemently denied these claims.
In a recent interview, Shah expressed his disbelief at the speculation, stating, “I still cannot believe that people are saying he was depressed. He is not that kind of a person, but then you cannot predict how human consciousness works sometimes.” Shah recalled their last phone conversation, which occurred roughly 4-5 months prior, during which Singh motivated him and encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
Singh’s prolonged absence has also raised concerns among his family members and colleagues. His father has affirmed that Singh was not experiencing any mental distress, but the reasons for his disappearance remain unclear. On April 28, crucial CCTV footage emerged, capturing Singh crossing a traffic intersection in New Delhi’s Palam area with a backpack.
The Delhi Police have intensified their search operations and are meticulously examining footage from various locations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Rohit Meena has stated, “We are looking for footage and we have even found many vital clues through technical investigation. According to the CCTV footage, he was last seen near the airport with a backpack.”
In a bid to expedite the investigation, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association, has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for their urgent intervention. The entertainment industry stands united in demanding Singh’s safe return and is extending all possible assistance to the authorities.
