The Punjab and Haryana High Court has acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others in the 2002 Ranjit Singh murder case, overturning a conviction by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court. Ranjit Singh, a former manager of the Dera, was shot dead in July 2002, leading to a CBI investigation and the subsequent conviction of Ram Rahim and four others in 2021. The High Court’s order came in response to appeals filed by the convicted individuals.
