Punjab and Haryana High Court Acquits Dera Sacha Sauda Chief in 2002 Ranjit Singh Murder Case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others in the 2002 Ranjit Singh murder case, overturning a conviction by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court. Ranjit Singh, a former manager of the Dera, was shot dead in July 2002, leading to a CBI investigation and the subsequent conviction of Ram Rahim and four others in 2021. The High Court’s order came in response to appeals filed by the convicted individuals.
