Luke Littler secured his Premier League Darts play-off spot with a fourth nightly win of the season, defeating Rob Cross in the Aberdeen final. Littler, who now leads the standings by eight points, guaranteed a top-four position by comfortably defeating Michael Smith in the semi-finals. Humphries is also assured of a play-off spot despite his semi-final exit to Cross. The final two play-off berths will be contested by Van Gerwen, Smith, Cross and Aspinall across the final two weeks of the regular season.
Luke Littler has set his sights on the top spot in Premier League Darts, as the 17-year-old arrives in Aberdeen five points clear of his closest challenger, Luke Humphries. Littler celebrated his third nightly victory of the season in Liverpool before capping off a memorable few days with his second European Tour title at last weekend’s Austrian Darts Open. With five points separating him from Humphries, Littler declared, “Top spot is my target now.” He faces Nathan Aspinall in the quarters this week, an opponent he has beaten in five of six meetings in 2024. “It would mean everything to finish top [of the table], but I’m just really happy to be where I am now, five points clear.” Peter Wright, the solitary Scottish representative in this year’s eight-player field, is determined to give his Scottish supporters something to cheer about when he competes in Aberdeen on Thursday. Wright is mathematically out of contention for a top-four finish but may still have a significant say on the Play-Off picture. He will take on Michael Smith in Thursday’s opening quarter-final, with Smith currently four points adrift of fourth-placed Michael van Gerwen.

A courageous mother, Grace Chidubem Ekohwo, and her three-week-old son, Gabriel, narrowly escaped a life-threatening flat fire in Aberdeen, Scotland. The blaze erupted suddenly, engulfing their building in thick black smoke. Despite the imminent danger, Grace quickly grabbed her son and sought refuge in the bathroom, placing a wet towel over his head for protection. In a desperate attempt to escape the suffocating smoke, she frantically tried to open windows, but only managed to open the one in the bedroom where she and Gabriel were trapped. Using her phone’s light as a signal, Grace alerted authorities outside her window. Firefighters and police arrived swiftly and deployed a ladder, allowing them to rescue baby Gabriel first and then Grace. Tragically, two sisters, Aanchal and Shikshya Subedi, lost their lives in the inferno. Grace expressed her gratitude to The Archie Foundation for providing invaluable support to her family in the aftermath of the fire, including temporary accommodation, essential supplies, and a new pushchair for Gabriel.
