Federal officials have closed their investigation into former Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, a Republican from Wilmington, and announced that he will not face any charges. The investigation began in 2018 after reports that Rosenberger was the target of a federal probe into his travel and spending practices in public office. Rosenberger has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In a letter to Rosenberger’s lawyers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Kenneth Parker stated that ‘extremely unique facts and circumstances’ led him to determine that Rosenberger is no longer the subject or target of the investigation. Rosenberger expressed gratitude to his family and friends for their support and stated that he is relieved to be vindicated of all charges.
