AC Helmets: A Cool Invention to Beat the Indian Heat

As India faces scorching temperatures, police departments across the country are turning to a novel solution – air-conditioned (AC) helmets. These innovative headgears, developed by Hyderabad-based start-up Jarsh Safety, offer a much-needed respite from the intense heat, effectively lowering the temperature by 10-15 degrees Celsius while on duty.

Lucknow Traffic Cops Get AC Helmets to Beat the Scorching Heat

The traffic department in Lucknow has introduced AC helmets as part of a trial phase to help cops on duty beat the heat. These helmets have AC vents to channel coolness to the head and a hard plastic shield that works as goggles to protect the eyes from the sun’s glare. The helmet is connected to a large battery pack tied to the waist of the person. After a successful trial, about 500 such helmets will be procured from a Hyderabad-based company. A month-long trial will decide if the product can be introduced formally.
