Athletics Federation of India Revamps Domestic Competitions to Elevate Athlete Performance

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) plans to restructure the domestic competition and qualification system for major international events from the 2025 season. The new system aims to provide athletes with more opportunities to compete and improve their performance, culminating in peak performance at key events. This comes in response to the decline in Indian athlete performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The AFI is also emphasizing regional competitions and decentralizing national camps, allowing athletes to train closer to home and choose their training environment.
