Eight coaches of the Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express derailed at Dibalong station in Assam on Thursday afternoon. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma confirmed the incident and assured the public that all passengers are safe. Railway authorities are coordinating relief efforts, and a rescue train is expected to arrive shortly.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Agartala arrested 23 Bangladeshi nationals and a tout for illegally entering India. The Bangladeshis, aged between 19 and 40, were seeking jobs and were apprehended while attempting to board a train to other states via Guwahati. Additionally, four Bangladeshi women were previously arrested for illegally crossing the border, with an Indian tout assisting them.
The Tripura Transport Department has announced a ban on the registration of all types of three-wheeler passenger and goods vehicles within the Agartala Municipal Corporation area from July 10th, 2024.
