A deceased mountain lion was discovered in a traffic lane on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The discovery was made near the construction site of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, a project aimed at providing safe passage for wildlife over the busy freeway. The uncollared mountain lion was found in the slow lane of the southbound side of the freeway near Liberty Canyon Road shortly before 5 a.m. CHP personnel moved the body to the right shoulder, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was called to the scene. It is yet to be determined if the mountain lion was struck by a vehicle.
