Heavy Rains Lash Ahmedabad, Red Alert Issued as Monsoon Advances Rapidly Across India

Ahmedabad, Gujarat, experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday, leading to waterlogging, uprooted trees, and the closure of underpasses. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for the city, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall until June 30th. Meanwhile, the monsoon’s rapid advancement has brought increased rainfall to North India, with flash flood risks issued for coastal Gujarat, Karnataka, and Kerala.

Emails Threatening Blasts Sent to Ahmedabad Schools Traced to Pakistan

Threatening emails sent to at least 36 Ahmedabad-based schools on the eve of the May 7 voting have been traced to Pakistan. The emails were sent from the ‘mail.ru’ domain, and the sender impersonated himself as Tauheed Liaquat. The person was operating from Faisalabad district of Pakistan and has created various identities on different social media platforms to spread anti-India messages, rumours, and fear. Further investigation is underway, and agencies like the Intelligence Bureau, Anti Terrorist Squad, National Technical Research Organisation, and Research and Analysis Wing have been contacted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in Ahmedabad today and was greeted by enthusiastic supporters. The crowd cheered, waved hand-made portraits, and even tied a rakhi on the Prime Minister’s wrist. PM Modi interacted with his admirers, signed autographs, and brought smiles to their faces. He also engaged with young children, lifting one into his arms and playing with him. Modi urged citizens to participate actively in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, which is underway in various states and union territories.

Tennis Star Madhvin Kamath Faces Cyber Crime Case in Ahmedabad

Internationally renowned tennis player Madhvin Kamath has been accused of morphing a photo of a 22-year-old Ahmedabad woman and defaming her by creating a poster advertising escort services with her mobile number. The victim received calls for over 20 days, leading her to report the incident to the Cyber Crime Cell. CCTV footage identified Kamath, an acquaintance of the woman, putting up the posters and an FIR was registered on April 23rd. Currently in France for a tennis tournament, Kamath is expected to face questioning upon his return amid concerns he may attempt to flee to avoid arrest.
