Apple AirPods: Water Resistance Explained

Apple’s AirPods lineup offers varying levels of water resistance. While the first and second-generation AirPods, as well as the AirPods Max, lack any water resistance, the third-generation AirPods and the first- and second-generation AirPods Pro feature IPX4 sweat and water resistance. This means they can withstand splashes of water but are not fully waterproof. The AirPods charging cases for the third-generation AirPods and second-generation AirPods Pro also have an IPX4 rating. If your AirPods get wet, it’s important to act quickly to prevent damage: remove them from the water, power off, dry with a soft cloth, and allow them to air dry completely before recharging.
