Torrential rainfall in Aizawl has resulted in a tragic incident at a local stone quarry, leading to the loss of five lives and several people missing. Rescue operations are being hampered by the incessant downpour, which has also triggered landslides across the state, cutting off Aizawl from the rest of the country and disrupting intra-state highways. Schools have been closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
