A jealous boyfriend has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for punching and kicking his girlfriend to death after she admitted to having sex with other men. Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman, 40, died on January 17, 2019, after suffering a head injury. Her boyfriend, M Krishnan, 40, pleaded guilty to culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the High Court last week.

A recent study has revealed an alarming increase in alcohol-related hospitalizations among women ages 40-64 during the pandemic. The study, published in JAMA Health Forum, found that women within this age range were significantly more likely to be hospitalized for alcohol abuse, with increases ranging from 33.3% to 56%.
