Nepal is welcoming a wave of digital payments as Alipay+, a leading mobile payment platform, partners with Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) to enable seamless transactions for travelers from Asia and Europe. This partnership, announced at the Singapore Fintech Festival 2024, aims to boost tourism and enhance the country’s global payment connectivity.

Alipay+ has expanded its presence in Nepal through a partnership with Himalayan Bank, making cashless payments convenient for tourists from 10 regions via the MOCO Unified QR Code system. Over 25,000 merchants now accept Alipay+, offering a seamless payment experience and boosting tourism in the country.
Alipay, the leading digital payment and lifestyle service platform, has partnered with Xi’an, China, to launch the ‘International Consumer Friendly Tourist Destination’ initiative, designed to enhance travel and shopping experiences for tourists. International visitors can now link their Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover®, or Diners Club International® credit or debit cards to the Alipay app, enabling easy payments at numerous merchants across China. Alipay is also partnering with other e-wallets, including AlipayHK, MPay, Touch ’n Go eWallet, and Kakao Pay, to make it easier for international tourists to use their home digital payment solutions while exploring China.
Alipay+, managed by Ant International, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have partnered to enhance tourism in Thailand. The partnership will introduce new digital innovations designed to improve the travel experience for visitors, particularly Chinese tourists, who make up Thailand’s top market. The innovations include the Alipay+ D-hub, the Amazing Thailand e-Card, and the expansion of Alipay+ acceptance across the country.
Huangshan Tourism Group and Alipay have joined forces to launch the “International Visitor Friendly Scenic Spot” initiative, which aims to improve the travel experiences for international visitors in China. The initiative enables international tourists at Huangshan to utilize various convenient payment methods, receive tailored digital red packets for shopping discounts, and access travel guides and tips in 16 languages. Huangshan has become the premier destination for international tourists in Anhui Province, and Alipay has seen a surge in transaction volumes from international tourists using its platform in China.
