American continues to focus on strengthening its balance sheet, reducing its total debt by nearly $950 million in this quarter. Looking ahead, American anticipates its adjusted earnings per diluted share for the second quarter of 2024 to range between $1.15 and $1.45, maintaining its forecast for full-year adjusted earnings per share to be between $2.25 and $3.25.

American Airlines Accused of Racial Discrimination in First-Class Incident

Pamela Hill-Veal, a retired Black circuit court judge, filed a complaint against American Airlines alleging racial discrimination. On a flight from Chicago to Phoenix, a flight attendant allegedly accused her of slamming the restroom door and told her to use the restroom in coach. The flight attendant’s actions were followed by physical touching and threats of arrest upon landing. American Airlines has stated that it takes all claims of discrimination seriously and is investigating the matter.
