The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced it will appeal a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that stripped American gymnast Jordan Chiles of her bronze medal in the Paris Olympics floor exercise. The CAS ruled that a late appeal by Chiles’ coach to increase her score was outside the allowed time limit, leading to the bronze medal being reallocated to Romanian Ana Barbosu. The USOPC argues that errors in both the initial scoring and the CAS appeal process led to the unfair outcome and is seeking to have Chiles’ medal reinstated.
