The Visakhapatnam South Assembly constituency, with a diverse electorate that includes fishermen, Muslims, Vaishyas, and Brahmins, is witnessing an intense battle between various political parties. JSP candidate MLC Ch. Vamsikrishna Srinivasa Yadav has emerged as a strong contender, despite initial resistance from TDP and BJP cadres. Yadav’s grassroots campaign and support from TDP leaders have boosted his chances. The constituency was previously held by Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar of TDP, who recently joined YSRCP. However, some YSRCP corporators have expressed dissatisfaction with Kumar’s performance, leading to defections to JSP and TDP.
