Las Vegas Landmark: The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum and Library’s Concrete Tower

The iconic concrete tower that once housed the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum and Las Vegas Library on Las Vegas Boulevard stands as a nostalgic reminder of the city’s past. Designed by renowned architect Antoine Predock, the museum offered interactive exhibits, a science tower, and a cone-shaped birthday party room. The library, which opened in 1990, boasted an impressive collection of books and hosted cultural events. In 2013, the museum moved to a new location with a larger space and a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). While the old building remains mostly unoccupied, memories of its vibrant past linger, including the beloved bubble table and hurricane simulator.
