Instagram has reversed its decision to refresh the feed upon launching the app, acknowledging that the ‘rug pull’ approach, while meant to improve engagement, was actually quite annoying for users. The platform has also introduced several other changes, including safeguards for young users and new communication features.
Bluesky, the Twitter-like social media app, has implemented direct messaging (DM) functionality. Users with Bluesky accounts can now send private one-to-one messages directly within the app. By default, anyone a user follows on Bluesky can send them a DM, but this setting can be customized in the app’s settings. Sending a DM is simple and involves selecting the Chat icon, starting a new conversation, searching for the recipient, and sending the message. Bluesky plans to add support for images, other media formats, and group direct messages in the future. Additionally, the app aims to implement end-to-end encrypted messaging down the line.
