Google has introduced official app badges in the Play Store to help users identify genuine state and federal government apps. These badges aim to prevent users from falling prey to fraudulent apps that impersonate official entities and steal money or personal data. Currently, the badges are available for over 2,000 apps in countries such as Australia, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, India, and Mexico.
