Odisha Orders Judicial Inquiry into Alleged Assault of Army Officer and His Fiancée at Police Station

Following allegations of torture and sexual assault against an army officer and his fiancée at a police station in Odisha, the state government has ordered a judicial inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge. The inquiry will investigate the incident’s chronology, the authorities’ roles, and suggest measures to prevent such events in the future. The government has also suspended five police officers and asked the High Court to oversee the Crime Branch investigation.
