Duplantis Edges Out Warholm in Zurich Exhibition Sprint

Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Armand Duplantis triumphed over former Olympic 400m hurdles champion Karsten Warholm in an exhibition 100m sprint in Zurich. Duplantis secured victory with a time of 10.37 seconds, while Warholm set a personal best of 10.47 seconds. The race had a playful twist: the loser would wear the other’s national vest in the upcoming Zurich Diamond League competition.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Out of Diamond League Finals Due to Eligibility Rules

Double Olympic champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will not be able to compete in the Diamond League Finals in Brussels. Despite receiving an invitation, she doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria as she hasn’t participated in any regular Diamond League events this season. The Diamond League’s CEO Petr Stastny clarified that the rules apply to all athletes and require either point accumulation or participation in a regular-season event to be eligible for a wildcard.

India’s Paralympic medal count reached 16 as Deepthi Jeevanji won bronze in the women’s 400m (T20) race. Shooter Avani Lekhara narrowly missed out on a second medal, finishing fifth in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 final. Bhagyashri Jadhav placed fifth in the women’s shot put (F34) event, while archer Pooja Jatyan’s campaign ended in the quarterfinals.
