Former NJ TV Anchor Banned from Teaching After Pleading Guilty to Misconduct

Peter Thompson, a former South Jersey sports reporter turned high school instructor, has been permanently barred from teaching after pleading guilty to inappropriately touching students while employed at Atlantic County Institute of Technology. Thompson was sentenced to two years probation and surrendered his teaching license as part of a plea deal. The charges against him included endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact, and official misconduct. Thompson’s teaching career ended when he was fired from ACIT in 2022 after being charged. During the investigation, authorities discovered photographs of students on Thompson’s phone and received reports of suggestive comments he allegedly made towards them.
