Medvedev Retires Due to Injury, Lehecka Advances to Maiden ATP Masters 1000 Semi-Final

Daniil Medvedev’s Mutua Madrid Open campaign has come to an end due to injury, allowing Jiri Lehecka to reach his first ATP Masters 1000 semi-final. In a quarter-final match, Medvedev retired after losing the opening set 6-4 to the 31st-ranked Lehecka. Medvedev experienced discomfort in his upper right leg and underwent treatment twice during the set. Despite attempting to continue, he ultimately decided not to risk further injury. Lehecka took advantage of Medvedev’s absence to win the final three games of the day and secure a meeting with Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals.
