St. Paul Man Sentenced to Nearly 26 Years for Fatal Shootings

Kavion Jayvon Barnett, 29, of St. Paul, was sentenced to nearly 26 years in prison for fatally shooting James Jeffrey King Sr. and injuring another man in separate incidents in February 2022. Barnett pleaded guilty to the shootings and admitted to shooting King from a minivan while he was sitting in his pickup truck in his driveway. He also admitted to shooting the other man while driving on the Earl Street Bridge with his family. The sentences for both incidents will run consecutively.

Tampa Teen Faces Adult Charges for Armature Works Shooting

Gabriel Catuy, 17, could be charged as an adult for firing shots near Armature Works earlier this month, leaving three people injured. He faces charges of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. His attorney waived his appearance at a juvenile court hearing, and he’s due back in court next month. Jaimartez Young, 19, also faces attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting.

11-Year-Old Boy Killed in Free State Farm Shooting

Tragically, an 11-year-old boy lost his life in a senseless shooting at a cherry farm near Ficksburg, Free State. The incident unfolded on Sunday night when two armed men opened fire on farm residents without provocation. Sadly, the young boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while six others were injured and hospitalized. The suspects remain at large, and authorities are appealing for information from the public that could lead to their apprehension.
