Over 1.4 Million Households Entitled to Free TV Licences Missing Out on £249 Million

An estimated 1.47 million households are eligible for free TV licenses but are not claiming them, resulting in a loss of £249 million in potential savings. Of these, a staggering 807,704 households are eligible for the Pension Credit benefit, which provides extra income for low-income individuals over the state pension age. To claim a free TV license, individuals must be over 75 years old and be in receipt of Pension Credit. Those who meet the criteria can apply online, by phone, or by post. The latest figures underscore the significant number of households that are missing out on this financial assistance, urging eligible individuals to take advantage of this benefit.
