Belagavi District Records Higher Voter Turnout in 2023 General Elections

Belagavi district witnessed an increase in voter turnout during the 2023 general elections compared to the previous elections. The concerted efforts by various agencies and the District SVEEP Committee played a significant role in this positive outcome. The Chikkodi Lok Sabha Constituency experienced a 3% increase, rising from 75.52% in 2019 to 78.51% this time. The Belgaum Lok Sabha Constituency also saw a 4% increase, from 67.70% to 71.49%. Additionally, the Khanapur and Kittur Assembly Constituencies, which are part of the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Constituency, recorded a turnout of 73.87% each. The average voting percentage in the district stood at around 75%.

Prime Minister Modi to Address Rallies in Belagavi and Sirsi on Sunday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Belagavi on Saturday night and address a rally the following morning. He will also visit Sirsi in Uttara Kannada and address another rally at noon. In Belagavi, he will campaign for party candidates Jagdish Shettar and Anna Saheb Jolle, while in Sirsi, he will support Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri. The BJP is expecting a large crowd of at least one lakh people for the Prime Minister’s meeting, with party leaders, workers, and candidates sharing the stage with him. Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra are among those who will be present.
