Android 15: Release Date, Eligible Devices, and Everything We Know

Google has unveiled Android 15, the latest version of its mobile operating system. As per the usual three-phase development cycle, Android 15 will undergo a Developer Preview phase, a Beta testing phase, and finally, a stable public release.

The Developer Preview commenced on February 16, 2024, allowing app developers to familiarize themselves with upcoming changes. The first public Beta was released on April 11, enabling users to try out new features and report bugs to Google.

As of now, Android 15 Beta 2 is available. Google anticipates reaching the Platform Stability phase with Beta 4, which should be ready between July and August. The final public release is expected sometime in fall 2024.

Regarding eligible devices, Google Pixel devices have first access to the Android 15 beta, with models from Pixel 6 and later being compatible. Samsung is yet to announce specific device eligibility, but devices released with Android 13 or have four years of major OS upgrades are likely candidates. OnePlus has confirmed Android 15 beta availability for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open.

Motorola’s eligible devices are expected to include recently released models like the Edge 50 series and Razr foldables. Nothing Phone 2a currently supports the Android 15 Beta 2, with Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 availability yet to be announced. Honor Magic 6 Pro and Honor Magic V2 are the only Honor devices eligible for the beta at this time.
