Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has received a two-month suspended ban from the Football Association (FA) for violating betting rules. Tonali, who joined Newcastle from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 for £55 million, was initially banned from competitive football until August 2024 for placing bets on matches in Italy. However, he was subsequently charged with 50 additional breaches of the FA’s betting regulations, which occurred between August 12 and October 12, 2023, after his move to Newcastle. The two-month suspension will be held until the end of the 2024/25 season, meaning Tonali will face a ban from all football-related activities if he commits further offenses. He is also subject to a £20,000 fine and a warning regarding his future conduct.
