Burmese, Birman Cats Live Longest; Sphynx Cats Have Shortest Life Expectancies

Burmese and Birman cats have the longest life expectancies among common pet cat breeds, averaging 14.4 years, while Sphynx cats have the shortest, averaging 6.7 years. This study analyzed data from 8,000 pet cats in the U.K. and found that crossbred cats live longer than purebred ones, and female and spayed/neutered cats live longer than male and intact cats. The study highlights the importance of considering life expectancy when making decisions about cat care and adoption.
