Birthdays, Gifts, and the Frustrations of Shopping

Every year, the protagonist grapples with the frustrating task of receiving unwanted gifts for their birthday. Their friend, determined to give them something, refuses to take no for an answer. After much back-and-forth, they eventually agree on a cardigan sweater, only to encounter more indecision over the color and style. The protagonist, exhausted by the process, suggests sending flowers or chicken soup instead. Meanwhile, in a parallel storyline, a series of unfortunate events unfolds in the city, including discrimination allegations, false arrests, and various accidents. Sigmund Freud’s famous quote provides a humorous ending to the piece.
