The Voorhees Town Center remains closed except for Boscov’s due to a fire in the food court area on Friday afternoon. The fire spread into the mall’s ceiling space, contaminating the building with soot. The mall is expected to remain closed until further notice. The township administrative offices, which are housed in the mall, are also closed on Monday. The mall, which opened in 1970 as the Echelon Mall, has struggled in recent years with the closure of anchor stores Sears, Macy’s, and JC Penney. It is currently owned by Namdar Realty Group.
