India’s Panghal and Lamboria Crash Out Early at World Boxing Championships

India’s hopes for a medal at the World Boxing Championships were dashed early as both Amit Panghal and Jaismine Lamboria suffered disappointing losses in their respective bouts. Panghal, a former world silver medalist and Commonwealth Games champion, lost a closely fought match to Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba, while Lamboria fell to Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Nesthy Petecio of the Philippines.

Disqualified Boxers Cleared to Compete at Paris Olympics

Two boxers, Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan, who were disqualified from last year’s World Championships for failing gender eligibility tests, are now eligible to compete at the Paris Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that both boxers meet the eligibility requirements for the Paris Games, which will be organized by the Paris Boxing Unit (PBU) instead of the IBA.

Nigerian Boxer Suspended from Paris Olympics After Positive Drug Test

Nigerian lightweight boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore has been provisionally suspended from the Paris Olympics after testing positive for a banned substance. The International Testing Agency confirmed that she tested positive for furosemide, a diuretic on the WADA prohibited list, in an out-of-competition doping control. Ogunsemilore has the right to challenge the suspension and request analysis of the B-sample.
