Kerala Battles Fourth Case of Brain-Eating Amoeba in Two Months

Kerala is facing a concerning rise in primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), commonly known as ‘brain-eating amoeba’. A 14-year-old boy in Payyoli, North Kerala, is the latest victim, marking the fourth case in just two months. This follows the death of E.P Mridul from Kozhikode due to the same infection, bringing the death toll to three. The Kerala government has called for caution, advising people to avoid contaminated water bodies and ensuring swimming pools are properly chlorinated.
