Calgary Humane Society Overwhelmed with Surrendered Pets

The Calgary Humane Society is facing a surge in animal surrenders and a shortage of volunteers to care for them. Due to the lack of pet-friendly housing and financial pressures, the number of people giving up their pets has increased significantly. With a waitlist of 200 dogs and an average of 4,000-5,000 animals admitted annually, the shelter is appealing for more volunteers to provide much-needed care and enrichment to the animals. The society emphasizes the importance of adopting to create space for homeless and unwanted animals in need of safe and loving homes.
