A car engine backfiring near Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana sparked a brief panic on Monday, prompting police to investigate and temporarily place the campus on lockdown. However, no evidence of a shooting was found, and the loud noise was determined to be caused by an engine backfiring. The campus was reopened shortly after the lockdown was lifted.
