Larry Carter Jr. of Winter Haven, Florida, reported his custom 2023 limited-edition Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak stolen while he slept on Monday. The vehicle held a precious item for Carter: his late mother’s ashes, which were kept in the cupholder. Despite the car’s theft, Carter found some solace when he discovered his mother’s ashes had been returned and left hanging out of his mailbox. Winter Haven police are investigating the incident and hope to recover Carter’s vehicle and find the suspect(s) responsible.

A group of individuals posing as rental car employees stole multiple vehicles from the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport in Upstate New York. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has reported that nine vehicles have been stolen so far this year, with eight of those being rental cars. The stolen vehicles were used to commit larcenies and robberies in Rochester and Irondequoit. Four people have been arrested in connection with the thefts, including Breanna Brummond, Nicholas Morales, and Esu Edwards. Law enforcement has implemented new security measures to prevent further incidents.

A DoorDash driver in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, had her car stolen while making a food delivery. Casey Miller, the victim, left her car running for less than a minute to drop off an order when a burgundy SUV approached. A passenger jumped out, got into her white 2015 Toyota Corolla, and drove off. Miller is now out of a car and a job. DoorDash does not provide drivers with insurance, and Miller’s insurance is not covering the cost of a rental car. She is warning other delivery drivers to be aware of their surroundings and not to leave their cars running.

The NYPD is investigating a reported car theft in Grant City, Staten Island. The incident occurred at approximately 3:22 a.m. on Lincoln Avenue and N. Railroad Avenue. A male victim reported that two individuals allegedly stole his BMW. Police later responded to the 7-Eleven at the location for further investigation.
