Baltic Cargo Hub: A Landmark in Air Cargo Handling

On May 10th, 2024, airBaltic, UPB Nams, and RIX Riga Airport commemorated a significant milestone in the construction of the Baltic Cargo Hub, a state-of-the-art facility set to revolutionize air cargo handling in the Baltics. The hub will boast 6,895 square meters of dedicated cargo operations and offices, equipped with the latest semi-automatic Material Handling Systems for efficient handling of various cargo types. Specialized zones, including temperature-controlled rooms for pharmaceuticals and areas for dangerous goods, live animals, and valuables, ensure the hub meets the diverse needs of its clientele. Essential services like the Food and Veterinary Service and a Customs checkpoint will be seamlessly integrated, offering comprehensive support for cargo operations. Utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM), the project is committed to environmentally sustainable construction and aims to achieve BREEAM certification. Expected to be operational within a year, the Baltic Cargo Hub represents airBaltic’s commitment to innovation and development, promising a prosperous future for air cargo in the region.
