Calgary Stampeders Sign First Draft Pick Ben Labrosse

The Calgary Stampeders have signed defensive back Ben Labrosse, their first pick in the 2023 CFL draft. Labrosse was selected fourth overall from McGill University. The 24-year-old all-star recorded 35 tackles and three interceptions in eight games for the Redbirds last season. He also played for Syracuse before transferring to McGill.

Edmonton Elks Lock Up Eight Players from 2024 CFL Draft Class

The Edmonton Elks have signed eight players from their 2024 CFL Draft class, including first overall pick Joel Dublanko. Dublanko, a standout linebacker from the NCAA Cincinnati Bearcats, led the Seattle Seahawks in special teams tackles during the pre-season last year and is excited to bring his skills to Edmonton. The Elks also signed three more linebackers, two offensive linemen, and a long-snapper/fullback. The team now looks ahead to rookie camp on May 8 and their first pre-season game on May 25 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Elks Select Dublanko as No. 1 Overall Pick in CFL Draft

The Edmonton Elks drafted linebacker Joel Dublanko first overall in the 2023 CFL Draft on Tuesday night, making him the ninth Bearcat taken in the draft but the first in the opening round. Dublanko, who is eligible for the CFL draft because his father is from Edmonton, played in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks before playing in 2023 with the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars.
