NIA Announces Rs 10 Lakh Reward for Information Leading to Arrest of Canada-Based Terrorist Goldy Brar

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of Canada-based terrorist Goldy Brar and another accused wanted in an extortion and firing case in Chandigarh. The reward comes as part of the agency’s ongoing investigation into the incident that took place in March 2023, where the accused allegedly fired at a businessman’s house as part of an extortion attempt.

Supreme Court Halts Opening of Road Outside Punjab CM’s Residence

The Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the opening of a road outside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence in Chandigarh, citing security concerns raised by the Central and Punjab governments. The road has been closed since the 1980s due to terrorist threats. The apex court has issued a notice to the Union Territory of Chandigarh administration, seeking a response by September 2nd. The road was closed during the height of terrorism in Punjab three decades ago. In April, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the opening of the road on a trial basis, but the Supreme Court has now put a stop to that plan.
